STORING EXTRA BABY CLOTHES

July 29, 2017 by FunandFunctional

I already showed how I organize clothes in Julia’s room.  She has a lot of clothes and they definitely don’t all fit in her room.  Today I am going to share how I organize and store baby clothes that are either too big or too small.

Babies have a lot of clothes.  It makes sense that they need a lot because they are messy and grow up really fast.  Julia especially has a lot of clothes because her grandma can’t resist all of the cute little girl clothes out there.  She has tried.  It didn’t work.

Julia’s closet is not very big so we have to store her extra clothes in the basement.  I use a combination of space bags that seal closed with a vacuum and plastic storage tubs.  At first, I was skeptical about how much space the bags would save, but they really do save a lot of space.

I have a separate bag for each size.  Some examples include Newborn, 0-3 Months, 3 Months, 3-6 Months, and 6 Months.

I also label the bags so I don’t have to open them up to find out what size they are.  I don’t want to open the bag if I don’t need to because I would have to vacuum the air out again after closing it.

After the clothes are in the space bags, I place them in plastic tubs and put them in storage.  I really like this system because the space bags save a lot of space within the plastic storage tubs and then the storage tubs are easy to stack.

In case you haven’t used the space bags before, they are really easy to use.

  1. Fill the bags to the line with clothes.
  2. Close the bag. To get a better seal, there is a plastic tab slider that you can use to close it.
  3. Open the vacuum valve cap and put your vacuum hose over the opening.
  4. Turn the vacuum on until all of the air is sucked out of the bag and then close the valve.

I like to use the Ziploc space bags.  I have also found that some space bags from the dollar stores work really well.

Have a great day!
